RV, motorhome & caravan GPS

RV and caravan GPS that routes for your real size

A motorhome or a car towing a caravan is taller, wider, longer and heavier than the car your phone's sat nav assumes. Navitruck uses your actual dimensions and weight to avoid low bridges, narrow lanes and weight-limited roads — and warns you before each one, offline, on iOS and Android.

The problem with a car sat nav in a motorhome

Car navigation apps do not know your vehicle. They will route a 3.2-metre-high motorhome under a 2.9-metre car-park barrier, send a 7-metre caravan outfit down a single-track lane with no turning space, and take a 3.5-tonne coachbuilt over a bridge with a 3-tonne limit. The consequences range from an embarrassing reverse to a damaged roof and a ruined holiday.

Navitruck is a truck-grade navigation app that treats RVs, motorhomes, campervans and caravan outfits as the large vehicles they are.

Set up your profile once

Enter the height at the tallest point (roof box, satellite dome, air conditioning unit and bike rack included), the width across the mirrors, the total length of the outfit if you tow, the gross weight from the plate, and the number of axles. Navitruck stores several profiles, so a couple who tow in summer and drive the car alone in winter switch profile rather than editing numbers.

  • Height, width, length, axles and gross weight
  • Separate profiles for towing and not towing
  • Tunnel category and hazmat fields available if you carry gas cylinders where local rules require it

Alerts before the bridge, even off-route

Leisure driving is full of unplanned turns: a scenic detour, a village you wanted to see, a hunt for the campsite entrance in the dark. Navitruck keeps checking the road ahead against your profile while the app is running, in the foreground or in the background, and warns you before a low bridge, narrow road or weight limit — whether or not you set a destination.

Offline maps for the whole trip

Touring means borders, mountains and coastlines where signal is poor and roaming is expensive. Download the regions for your route before you leave and Navitruck keeps routing, searching and alerting with no data connection. All regions are included in Premium, so a tour through several countries costs nothing extra in maps.

Points of interest for large vehicles

Find parking and service areas with space for a long outfit, fuel stations you can actually get into and out of, and other stops suited to a large vehicle. Multi-stop routing with toll costs lets you plan a day's drive with the overnight stop already in it, and lane guidance at complex junctions takes the stress out of unfamiliar motorway interchanges.

Common questions

Does Navitruck work for a car towing a caravan, not just motorhomes?

Yes. Create a profile with the height and width of the caravan and the total length and gross weight of the car-plus-caravan combination. Routing and alerts use those figures whenever that profile is selected.

Will it avoid narrow roads as well as low bridges?

Routes are calculated around posted width and length limits and weight-limited roads, in addition to low bridges. For lanes you know are unsuitable but are not signed, you can draw your own avoid zones on the map.

Do I have to keep the app open for the alerts?

The app must be running, but it can be in the background behind music or another app. Navitruck continues to compare the road ahead with your profile and alerts you before a restriction.

Can I use it abroad without roaming data?

Yes. Download the regions you are visiting before you travel. Routing, search and restriction alerts work offline; live traffic and speed camera updates resume when you connect to Wi-Fi or data.
